Melissa Pritsis and Indianna Zeniou, both 21 years old, are not just actors; they are trailblazers, bringing a fresh and vibrant energy to the Melbourne stage with their roles in the high-octane musical, Bring It On. Melissa, a Thornbury native, and Indianna, from Lilydale, both recently graduated from Federation University Arts Academy with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Musical Theatre and Acting. For Melissa, Bring It On marks her first professional musical, and her determination to be a part of it is a testament to her dedication. "I have been in love with the show itself since I was maybe 13 years old, so as soon as I saw the brief, I was determined to make it happen," she shared with Neos Kosmos. Her love for dance, which began at the tender age of three, has been a constant in her life, and her Greek heritage plays a significant role in her identity. "My Dad's family is originally from Thessaloniki, my grandparents immigrating to Australia in 1965," she said. "As a kid, I have rich memories of attending family gatherings, with three tables pushed together, mountains of food, and laughter echoing through the garden."
Indianna, a long-time competitive cheerleader with Outlaws Allstars, has been training in cheerleading for 17 years. Her journey has been one of dedication and hard work, as she has become a six-time grand national champion and has won 12 national first-place titles. "Performing has always been part of who I am, and it has shaped my confidence, passion, and love for the stage," she said. Her family's heritage, which includes roots in Famagusta, Cyprus, and a strong connection to the Greek Orthodox faith, has also played a significant role in shaping her identity. "Despite the distance from Cyprus, my family has remained closely connected to our Greek Orthodox faith and heritage," she added.
The production's choreographer, Louise Panagiotidis, has also been impressed by the cast's commitment to the physically demanding show. "It’s been so exciting to watch the choreography come to life in Bring It On rehearsals," Panagiotidis said. "We have such a talented cast who are bringing so much passion to every number, and I can’t wait to share all of their hard work with audiences soon."
